Forecasters believe the UK could see some ‘hot and thunderous’ conditions this month as temperatures may be ‘below average’. The prediction from the Met Office comes as North Staffordshire has seen a gray and wet late June – having previously been sizzling in hot conditions.
And meteorologists say that while temperatures will creep up on Pottery, July could bring some wetter conditions. Across the country and earlier this month will see periods of heavy rain and high winds – which can make BBQ a bit tricky.
Forecasters with the BBC forecast temperatures will be back into the 20s next week after what formed a mild weekend where temperatures struggled to get out of the teens. But Saturday and Sunday will still be dry – before any chance of thunder on Monday.
Meanwhile remote forecaster with AccuWeather predicts July will bring a high of 22C to North Staffordshire.

British estimate
The Met Office has released its long-term forecast for the country. Between July 5th and July 14th Here’s the prediction: “A mix of sunshine and rain, potentially heavy or thunderous, is forecast for Wednesday.
“There is a small chance of heavy rains and showers with strong winds, moving northeast. The best clear and calm conditions are in the east. Furthermore, it remains cool with a clear and rainy season, which occurs most often in the north and west, while the southeast areas it has the potential to be a little drier and more settled for a while, although the rains approaching the west into the weekend may sweep to the east followed by fresher conditions, and could be preceded by thunderstorms.
“Temperatures are likely to be below average for the most part initially, but are likely to rise with the potential for very warm, or even hot weather at least in the south of the country.”
And between July 15 and July 29here are the predictions: “Throughout the second half of July, initially unsettled conditions will probably become increasingly calm overall, but this does not rule out the potential for shorter periods of hot, rumbling weather. Temperatures are likely to be around or above average, with a possible spell slightly higher heat compared to normal.”
