Professor Hidesaburo Ueno, an agricultural professor at the University of Tokyo, was the loving and devoted father of Hachiko. Hachiko, who was always the faithful friend, made it a regular habit to accompany his master to Shibuya Station every morning since the two had a particular affinity. As Professor Ueno left for work, Hachiko would obediently come home in the evening, anticipating the sound of the train that would return his cherished owner.
