Jill Francine Stevens
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jill Francine Stevens, who passed away peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 69.
Jill was a loving wife to the late Ronnie Taylor and later Michael Stevens devoted mother to Lee, Simon, Matthew and Cathryn, grandmother to Leah, Joshua, Ruby, Harry, Luke, Simon Jr., Sinead, Thomas and Lucas.
Jill Francine was born in Oswaldtwistle to Jack and Amy Moss.
From the age of three Jill and her cousin Wendy attended dance lessons at the Sandra Pilkington School of Dance held in the Ossy Co Op room.
This led to them performing at many dance festivals across the region and winning numerous medals and trophies for both solo and duet, they were referred to as the ‘Twins’ which usually won Gold.
Jill’s flair for performing and entertaining carried through her life.
Childhood school days were at Moorend, and secondary school at Rhyddings. It was here that she met her beloved husband Ronnie and lifelong friends Jean Grundon and Carol Wright.
Ronnie and Jill’s families both attended New Lane Baptist where they both sang in the choir and played guitar and as their romance blossomed this is where they married.
Jill and Ronnie’s first home lovingly renovated by Ronnie and her father was called Dem Dyke Cottage Upper Stanhill and it was here that first child Lee arrived followed by second and last Simon, but most certainly, Matthew.
Jill is a loving homemaker and always makes sure Ronnie and his kids are well fed with proper home-cooked food! As a very dramatic person Jill performed at the Oswaldtwistle Players as well as the Immanuel Church Theatre.
Unfortunately Ronnie was diagnosed with lung cancer and died July 1, 1994. In 1996 Jill met Michael Stevens and their love for each other continued and married in September 1998.
Jill loved doing daily puzzles from newspapers, playing Scrabble and Chess.
Jill loves listening to Radio Lancashire and wants to call when Ted Robins is on the air because she has a crush on him.
Michael had a stroke and had to be cared for in his own home where Jill dedicated her life to making sure he was comfortable being looked after properly.
This shows you how much passion he has for his family.
Jill will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends but her love of fun and laughter will forever be in their lives.
The funeral will take place on Monday, July 3, with services at Immanuel Church, Oswaldtwistle at 10am. Followed by a commitment at Accrington Crematorium at 11:00am Burnley Road.
Family interest only please but donations are welcome in memory of East Lancashire Hospice.
